The Armory Partners Group is privileged to have its proposed project for Fort Homer Hesterly Armory reviewed by the Armory Board/Department of Military Affairs (AB/DMA) for the State of Florida.
When our project is selected to redevelop the Armory and its surrounding site, The Group would like the Armory Board to know that it has every intention to honor and recognize the men and women who have served their country through the Armory since the 1940s as distinguished members of the Florida National Guard and other U.S. military institutions:
- Re-light the torch: The Group will keep the torch atop of the Armory burning bright for eternity, as this once represented a beacon for those who served their country to find their way back home.
- Tell the history of the Armory: An easily accessible public area will be created to tell the story of the Armory and the men and women who lived and worked there through words and images. From the turn of the 20th century when Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders camped on the site through the turn of the 21st century, including the many extraordinary entertainment events that took place on the arena floor inside the Armory.
- Erect a memorial: A patriotic and reflective public memorial that honors the Florida National Guard will be built.
The Armory Partners Group looks forward to the opportunity to work with the Armory Board to meet its requirements to redevelop the site and accommodate the Guard. |
